Respite Care

Kevin Pardell is the son of a Freemason. Kevin has cerebral palsy and is cared for by his parents. A grant from the MSF enabled Kevin to have a period of respite at the Calvert Trust activity centre in the Kielder Forest.

“Without your help I would not have been able to have the respite care that Social Services decree I must have. The money they allow me means that instead of the 4 weeks and 2 weekends I am supposed to have, I would only have been able to afford 2 weeks. Everyone needs a break especially my parents/carers. We need this time apart to recharge our batteries.”

This marvellous activity centre provides Kevin and his parents with time apart to recharge their batteries. At 42 years old he is, in his own words “not ready to go to an elderly care home just yet”.
