DENTAL CARE
For most people a trip to the dentist is a routine event. However, sometimes such a visit may result in an unexpected recommendation for treatment. If this treatment is not available on the NHS it may be expensive – an expense that is unexpected and unplanned.
Applications in support of dental treatment are welcome where NHS treatment is unavailable or where costs are in excess of NHS charging rates. Grants are provided in support of dental treatment that is clinically necessary, in the most cost-effective and efficient manner. Grants are not available where the proposed treatment is purely cosmetic or where an applicant simply prefers to receive private treatment.
Some of the grants we have offered previously include:
- NHS Band 3 Dental Treatment
-
Treatment that is not available on the NHS which may include:
- Root canal treatment
- Crowns
- Orthodontic (Graded 4 on IOTN Score)
- Bridgework
- Implants
Case Study
Having had all his teeth removed, and suffering distress trying to cope with ill-fitting dentures, a Mason in his fifties applied to the Fund. A grant was approved to cover the cost of providing implant retained dentures.
“I don't know how to express my thanks to your financial assistance for my dental treatment, maybe "Gob-smacked" would be a suitable phrase!
I am pleased to inform you that my dentist has been in contact with me and after an examination has booked me in for a facial scan at the hospital next Monday along with three other appointments.
So it is all happening, if I'm honest I'll say that it still hasn't sunk in yet but please express my thanks to all concerned.”
